You’ve probably heard that Singaporean shuttler Loh Kean Yew rose to become Badminton World Champion, but have you tried your hand at this sport? It’s a simple activity that can be enjoyed by people of all ages!

A game of reflexes, agility and strategy, badminton can be played at a fast or slow pace. Badminton is a full body workout that keeps us on our toes, physically and metaphorically! Players jump, stretch and brake throughout the game, which activate numerous torso and leg muscles too. Most of all, badminton exercises the brain, as it tests our alertness and requires us to analyse and strategise throughout the game.

Members of the public can book the badminton courts in the OCBC Arena, which is where TeamSG athletes like Loh Kean Yew and Yeo Jia Min train. The OCBC Arena has also hosted the recent Singapore Sports Hub National Open Championships 2022, an exhilarating tournament where elite shuttlers like Ronald Susilo competed.
